Motivated students who want to gain a competitive edge in their careers can get a jump start with our Integrated BS/MS program (IMB). This program offers an accelerated path for students interested in graduate education to earn their BS in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering and MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering.

This course of study ordinarily requires ten semesters, although advanced placement or other study may reduce this time. Students can apply appropriate units earned as undergraduates toward their MS program as long as they are beyond the 384 units required for the BS in Civil Engineering or BS in Environmental Engineering degree. In the ninth semester of study, students must register for graduate status.

Apply for the IMB program

  • Students can apply between the 5th and 7th semesters of their undergraduate program. The timeframe for transfer students' applications will be adjusted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Complete the IMB Program declaration form and submit it to Melissa Ritchie, Graduate Academic Coordinator.
  • Upon admission, you will be assigned a graduate studies advisor. You will meet with your graduate advisors regularly to develop your course of study and register for graduate-level courses.
