Wei, who is advised by professor Burcu Akinci and is focused on using unstructured visual data, such as images captured by cellphones and tablets, to reconstruct a semantically rich 3D model of construction sites. These will be used for providing accurate as-built information to support change documentation, progress monitoring, and facility management.

“I would like to give my deepest thanks to the committee for the Liang Ji-Dian Graduate Scholarship,” says Wei. “It is a great acknowledgment that will encourage me to make steadfast progress towards my research goal.”

This fellowship was created through the generosity of Liang Ji-Dian and it was established to help support the graduate studies of highly deserving Engineering Ph.D. students of Chinese heritage.
